Cooling Characteristic

Details

The working principle of the machine simulates the Quenching process, using a Silver Stick as a representative workpiece. The process begins by heating the Silver Stick to approximately 800°C, then immersing it into the oil sample contained in the Auto Sample Cup. This initiates the Quenching process, causing the workpiece to cool rapidly.

The machine detects the Characteristic Temperature, which is the point where the oil transitions from the Vapor Stage to the Boiling Stage. At this point, the oil vapor comes into contact with the workpiece and breaks down into the Boiling Stage, where the cooling rate is at its highest. As the oil is used over time, the H-value gradually decreases due to oxidation, leading to a decline in its quenching capability.

Therefore, monitoring and controlling the Characteristic Temperature and H-value in the oil is essential to maintaining quality in the production process.

Analysis method

  • Tested according to JIS K 2242 standard.

Limitation

If the water content in the oil exceeds 500 ppm, analysis cannot be performed as it may affect safety during the analytical process.
